Suasana pagi itu sangat sibuk. Jam menunjukkan pukul 08:30 ketika seorang lelaki tua umur 80-an masuk untuk meminta agar jahitan di ibu jarinya segera dilepas. Ia berkata bahwa ia sedang terburu-buru karena ada janji pukul 09:00. Aku memahami gelagatnya lalu memintanya untuk duduk. Aku tahu pekerjaan ini akan memakan waktu lebih dari satu jam sebelum orang lain bisa menemuinya.

Aku perhatikan ia melihat jamnya lalu memutuskan untuk dilepas jahitannya. Karena saat itu aku sedang tidak sibuk dengan pasien-pasien lain, maka kuteliti luka di ibu jarinya. Ternyata lukanya telah sembuh dengan baik, lalu kukatakan kepada salah seorang dokter apa yang hendak kulakukan. Aku lalu menyiapkan peralatan dan barang-barang yang kuperlukan umtuk melepas jahitan dan membalut lukanya.

Sambil merawat lukanya aku terlibat dalam pembicaraan dengannya. Aku bertanya apakah pagi ini ia punya janji dengan salah seorang dokter disini karena ia tampak begitu terburu-buru. Ia menjawab tidak, ia harus pergi ke rumah perawatan untuk sarapan bersama istrinya. Aku lalu bertanya tentang keadaan istrinya. Ia berkata bahwa istrinya menderita Alzheimer dan belum lama dirawat di tempat itu.

Sambil mengobrol, kuselesaikan balutan di ibu jarinya. Aku bertanya apakah istrinya akan merasa khawatir bahwa hari ini ia agak terlambat. Ia menjawab bahwa istrinya sudah lima tahun tidak lagi mengenalinya.

Aku merasa terkejut dan bertanya, “Apakah kau pergi ke sana setiap hari meski istrimu sudah tidak mengenalimu?”

Ia tersenyum, menepuk tanganku lalu berkata, “Benar ia tidak mengenaliku, tapi aku khan mengenalinya!”

Aku harus menahan tangis haruku ketika ia pergi. Aku merenung, ”Ini adalah jenis cinta yang kuharapkan dalam hidupku.”

Sungguh istrinya adalah wanita yang beruntung. Seharusnya kita semua memiliki cinta semacam ini. Cinta sejati tidak bersifat jasmani, dan tidak pula hanya bersifat romantis. Cinta sejati adalah kesediaan untuk menerima apa adanya, dan kerelaan untuk menerima apa yang telah, apa yang akan dan apa yang tidak akan terjadi.

Sahabat yang baik seperti bintang di langit. Kau tidak dapat selalu melihatnya, namun kau tahu bahwa mereka ada di luar sana.

TIGA ORANG TAMU

Seorang wanita melihat di halaman depan rumahnya ada tiga orang kakek berjenggot putih dan panjang.

“Saya kira saya tidak mengenal kalian, tapi kalian pasti lapar. Silahkan masuk, saya punya makanan untuk kalian,” kata wanita itu.

”Apakah suamimu ada di rumah?” tanya mereka.

”Tidak, ia sedang keluar.”

”Kalau begitu kami tidak bisa masuk.”

Ketika hari telah sore dan suaminya telah datang, wanita itu bercerita kepadanya tentang apa yang terjadi di rumahnya.

”Beritahu mereka, aku telah datang dan persilahkan mereka masuk,” kata suaminya.

Wanita itu lalu keluar untuk mengundang mereka.

”Kami tidak masuk rumah bersama-sama,” jawab mereka.

”Mengapa demikian?” tanya wanita itu.

Salah satu dari mereka lantas berkata, “Nama dia KAYA,” katanya sambil menunjuk salah seorang temannya. “Nama dia SUKSES, dan saya sendiri bernama CINTA.”

Ia kemudian melanjutkan, “Nah, sekarang bicarakan dengan suamimu, siapa di antara kami yang akan kalian undang ke dalam rumah kalian.”

Wanita itu kemudian menceritakan hal tersebut kepada suaminya. Suaminya merasa heran, “Wow..., alangkah anehnya. Kalau demikian, marilah kita undang KAYA. Biarkan dia masuk dan mengisi rumah kita dengan kekayaan.”

Namun istrinya tidak setuju.

“Sayang, mengapa tidak kita undang saja SUKSES?”

Menantu perempuan mereka yang sejak tadi mendengarkan dari sudut rumah mengusulkan, “Apakah tidak lebih baikkita undang CINTA? Rumah kita nanti akan dipenuhi oleh cinta.”

“Benar! Mari kita ikuti saran menantu kita,” kata sang suami kepada istrinya. “Panggilah CINTA untuk menjadi tamu kita!”

Sang istri lalu keluar dan bertanya, “Siapa diantara kalian yang bernama CINTA? Masuklah dan jadilah tamu kami!”

CINTA bangun dan berjalan ke arah rumah. Kedua orang tua yang lain bangkit mengikuti CINTA. Merasa heran, wanita itu bertanya kepada KAYA dan SUKSES, “Aku hanya mengundang CINTA, mengapa kalian berdua ikut masuk?”

SUATU PELAJARAN HIDUP

Mike adalah seseorang yang patut untuk dikagumi. Ia selalu ceria, selalu memiliki ucapan yang positif. Apabila seseorang menanyakan kabarnya, ia akan menjawab. “Kalau keadaanku lebih baik dari sekarang, maka aku pasti saudara kembarnya.”

Ia adalah seorang pemberi motivasi alami. Apabila ada orang yang mengalami kesusahan, Mike selalu ada disana untuk memberitahu cara melihat sisi positif dari situasi yang dialaminya.

Melihat sikapnya ini, aku jadi penasaran. Suatu hari aku mendatanginya dan bertanya, ”Aku tidak mengerti, kau tidak mungkin dapat bersikap positif setiap saat! Bagaimana caramu melakukannya?”

”Setiap bangun pagi, aku berkata kepada diriku sendiri; kau hanya punya dua pilihan hari ini; kau memilih untuk bersikap gembira atau bersedih hati, lalu aku memilih untuk bersikap gembira. Setiap kali sesuatu yang buruk terjadi, aku dihadapkan pada dua pilihan; menjadi korban atau menjadi orang yang mengambil pelajaran dari peristiwa itu. Setiap kali orang datang kepadaku mengadu, aku bisa memilih untuk menerima pengaduannya atau aku dapat menunjukkan sisi positf kehidupan, lalu aku pilih yang positif,” jawab Mike.

SETA SOUJIRO

Teman-teman yang hobi dengan film kartun Samurai X tentu sudah tahu tokoh yang satu ini, Seta Soujiro. ‘The Smiling Killer’, itulah sebutan favoritku kepadanya. Disebutkan juga bahwa kelebihan utama yang dimiliki Soujiro yang jarang dimiliki oleh orang lain adalah kemampuannya dalam mengendalikan emosi. Dia tidak pernah ragu untuk menjalankan segala perintah yang diberikan kepadanya, bahkan selalu menjalankannya dengan senyuman diwajahnya. Kita tentu heran bagaimana seseorang bisa mempunyai kemampuan bersikap seperti itu.

Kalau menengok kembali diawal kisah hidupnya pada saat ia masih anak kecil, ia adalah seorang anak haram yang kehadirannya tidak diharapkan oleh saudara-saudara orangtuanya yang telah lebih dulu meninggal. Tiap hari ia disuruh kerja yang berat-berat, tiap hari juga ia selalu dimarahi bahkan sanpai dipukuli. Namun ia selalu menghadapinya dengan tersenyum.

Ia mengatakan alasannya bersikap seperti itu bahwa dengan tersenyum, rasa sakit yang ia alami saat dipukul akan menjadi berkurang. Suatu sikap hidup yang LUAR BIASA.

Jangan menganggap bahwa kisah itu hanyalah kisah kartun fiksi yang kosong tanpa makna. Ada kebenaran sejati dalam apa yang dialami Soujiro. Betapa kebanyakan dari kita menganggap bahwa sesuatu yang tidak baik, menyakitkan, melukai adalah sesuatu yang mutlak negatif sifatnya. Padahal tidak demikian adanya. Kita tidak bisa memilih takdir tempat kita hidup. Kita hanya punya pilihan dalam sikap hidup. Bukanlah takdir yang akan mengubah hidup kita, namun sikap kitalah yang akan mengubah segalanya. Kita bisa memilih tersenyum, maka rasa sakit kita akan berkurang. Atau kita bisa memilih untuk meratap yang malah akan membuat rasa sakit itu bertambah pedih.

Untuk tersenyum pada saat segalanya berjalan menyenangkan sesuai keinginan kita itu soal mudah. Namun, butuh kecerdasan dan keberanian besar untuk tersenyum pada saat mengalami kemalangan.

Google has various rationales as to why they suddenly up the cost-per-click price. First of all, you may not pay $0.50 per click even though Google raised it to this new level. It depends on who else is bidding for the keyword. Therefore, you may actually end up paying much less per click. So don’t take the number at face value. You can accept the $0.50 per click value and watch it closely. Test it out.

What if you are uncomfortable with the high pay-per-click cost and don’t even want to risk trying it out? There are a few things you can do in this case. You can try switching from a “keyword targeted” strategy to a “site targeted” strategy.

Open up your Google Adwords campaign and “pause” the keyword targeted option. Activate the site targeted option. You can target specific sites regarding your topic. You can pick and choose what sites your advertisements will be on. The site targeted option is a little different from the keyword targeted option in that it does not run on a cost-per-click model. Instead, it is based on a cost-per-impression model. Running a site targeted strategy may be your best bet at combating high cost-per-click levels.

Another suggestion to alleviate Google Adwords problems is to try running a different advertising program called Adbrite at http://www.adbrite.com. Another option is to run a keyword advertising program on http://www.msn.com.

Remember, Google Adwords is a beneficial option, but not the only choice. Don’t give up. Test and tweak. Keep trying.

RAHASIA TUHAN

POHON MASALAH

Tukang kayu yang kugaji untuk memperbaiki rumah baru saja menyelesaikan pekerjaan hari pertamanya yang melelahkan. Banyak masalah yang ia alami, ban mobilnya bocor, gergaji listriknya macet, dan sekarang mobil tuanya mogok, tidak bisa dijalankan.

Aku lalu mengantarkannya pulang. Ia duduk mematung dan membisu. Sesampainya di rumahnya, ia mengajakku masuk untuk bertemu dengan keluarganya. Ia berjalan menuju pintu depan rumahnya, tapi kemudian berhenti sejenak di dekat sebuah pohon kecil, lalu menyentuh ujung cabang-cabang pohon itu dengan kedua tangannya.

Setelah itu ia mengalami perubahan yang menakjubkan. Ketika membuka pintu rumah, mukanya sekarang dihiasi senyum. Ia memeluk kedua anaknya yanng masih kecil lalu mencium istrinya.

Ketika aku hendak pulang ia mengantarku ke mobilku. Kami melewati lagi pohon kecil itu. Aku merasa sangat penasaran lalu bertanya kepadanya tentang apa yang tadi ia lakukan.

”Oh, ini adalah pohon permaslahanku,” jawabnya. ”Dalam bekerja, aku tidak bisa menghindar dari berbagai macam permasalahan. Namun, aku berkeyakinan, bahwa persoalanku tidak boleh menjadi persoalan istri dan anak-anakku. Karenanya, setiap kali pulang kerja, aku gantungkan semua persoalanku di pohon ini, dan mengambilnya lagi esok hari. Anehnya, setiap kali kuambil lagi, permasalahan itu tampak jauh lebih mudah diatasi dibandingkan ketika kugantungkan dimalam hari.”

“MENCETAK” PEMIMPIN

Suatu hari Raja Ts’ao yang memerintah pada abad ke-3 M, mengirim putranya, Pangeran T’ao ke kuil Guru Besar Pan Ku. Ta’o akan dididik menjadi raja menggantikan ayahnya. Anehnya, ketika sampai di kuil, Pan Ku justru mengirim Ta’o masuk ke hutan sendirian.

Setelah satu tahun putra mahkota kembali ke kuil. Guru bertanya kepada Ta’o, suara apa saja yang sudah didengarnya selama di hutan. “Guru,” jawab pangeran, “saya dapat mendengar kokok ayam jantan, jangkrik mengkerik, lebah mendengung, dan burung berkicau.”

Begitu Pangeran Ta’o selesai menjelaskan pengalamannya, Guru Pan Ku memerintahkannya kembali ke hutan untuk memperhatikan suara apa lagi yang bisa didengar. Ta’o bingung dengan perintah Sang Guru. Bukankah ia telah mendengarkan setiap suara yang ada?

Empat hari empat malam Ta’o berada di hutan, tetapi tidak mendengar suara lain dari yang selama ini sudah didengarnya. Pada suatu pagi, ketika sedang bersila di bawah pohon, sayup-sayup Ta’o mendengar suara yang berbeda dengan sebelumnya. Semakin lama, suara itu semakin jelas. Saat itu Ta’o mengalami pencerahan bathin. “Pasti inilah suara-suara yang dimaksudkan Sang Guru,” pikirnya.

Akhirnya pengeran kembali ke kuil melaporkan temuannya. ”Guru,” ujarnya, ”Ketika membuka telinga dan hati lebar-lebar, saya dapat mendengar hal-hal yang tak terdengar semisal suara bunga merekah, suara matahari yang memanaskan bumi, dan suara rumput meminum embun pagi.” Guru manggut-manggut mengiyakan.

“Mendengar sesuatu yang tak terdengar, penting sebagai pelajaran wajib untuk menjadi pemimpin yang baik. Karena baru setelah mampu mendengar suara hati rakyat, mendengar perasaan yang tidak mereka ekspresikan, kesakitan yang tidak diungkapkan, keluhan yang tidak diucapkan, seorang pemimpin akan memahami kebutuhan sebenarnya warga negaranya.”
